In May 2003, an attempt was made to steal a digital light projector (LCD/DLP) mounted to the ceiling of a major university project room. Cables had been unhooked and a chair was left under the projector, but thieves left empty-handed because KEYED-LOK tamper-proof screws were used to secure the mount.

Previously the university's LCD/DLP mounts were secured by the hex-pin security screws which came with the mount.
